2017 Fellowship Winner
The National Association of EMS Physicians® (NAEMSP®) and Physio-Control, the world leader in emergency medical response technologies, announce Joshua Loyd, MD,
as the winner of the NAEMSP® / Physio-Control EMS Medicine Medical Director Fellowship.
Joshua would like to
thank the NAEMSP and Physio-Control for this amazing opportunity and the
recognition of his past, current, and future involvement in EMS. He owes so much
to the support he has received over the years, especially from his family and
the faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University. Joshua is excited to further his goals through the EMS
fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center.
The purpose of the fellowship is to train individuals for a career as a clinically focused EMS medical director who is board-certified in EMS medicine, to expand the commitment of academic institutions to EMS medicine as a subspecialty and to graduate a fellow with a passion for EMS leadership on a national level.
The 12-month, $80,000 fellowship will cover related training and education costs. Fellowship applicants were judged by a selection committee based on their potential for a career as an EMS medical director and to become a national leader in the EMS field. The award was presented at the 2017 NAEMSP® Annual Meeting (January 24-26, New Orleans, LA).
