EMS Agenda for the Future

EMS Research Agenda

The Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Association (HPBA) requested we add to our website their frequently asked questions with regard to fireplace safety.  Particularly, parents of young children need to take special precautions to protect against burns from glass-fronted fireplace inserts and stoves.
Interagency Board's (IAB) published (April 2016) paper entitled TrainingTrigger: Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI)  that discusses the potential devastating economic impacts avian influenza could cause in the U.S. as well as activities first responder organizations can take to prepare for such an event.

IAB is a voluntary collaborative panel of emergency preparedness and response practitioners, representing all levels of government as well as operational, technical, and support organizations. The IAB provides a structured forum for the exchange of ideas to improve the Nation's ability to prepare for and respond safely to emergencies, disasters, and other critical incidents.

Mass Casualty Events

Preparing for a Mass Casualty Event:
National EMS Core Content

The National Association of EMS Physicians led a workgroup as part of the CDC sponsored Terrorism Injuries: Information Dissemination and Exchange project to develop a national guideline for mass casualty triage.  The result of this effort is the Model Uniform Core Criteria a list of essential elements for a mass casualty triage system.
