The Department of Emergency Medicine and its Section of Out of Hospital and Disaster Medicine at The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is seeking a residency trained, ABEM/AOBEM boarded Emergency Physician for an academically focused EMS position within the Department. The successful candidate should have also completed an EMS Fellowship and have experience with air medical services.

EMS Medical Director/EMS Disaster Medicine Fellowship Director

UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is seeking a professional to serve as the EMS Medical Director for Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and the EMS/Disaster Medicine Fellowship Director for Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Responsibilities will include delivery of clinical services in the Emergency Department, teaching of physician assistants, medical students and residents rotating through the Emergency Department. Specific responsibilities will also include working collaboratively with Departments and Divisions within the Medical School on collaborative research projects, as well as on assigned Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) patient care committees, directing the EMS program for RWJUH and the fellowship program.

The Department has an emergency medicine residency program and an EMS/Disaster Medicine Fellowship program. Rutgers, UMDNJ-RJWMS and RWJUH comprise the University Center for Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response (UCDPER). The Department works collaboratively with the UCDPER in conducting research and planning activities.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, is a level I trauma center which evaluates and treats over 90,000 visits/year. The hospital serves as our principal teaching affiliate. The EMS system at RWJUH, which covers the Central New Jersey Region, has over 250 pre-hospital providers at all levels. This system is host to the Medical Command Center for New Jersey and is the regional dispatch center. (Pediatric emergency care is located in a separate location in the hospital, and services are provided by the Department of Pediatrics).

The District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department seeks a highly qualified Medical Director.   (Salary up to $250,000)

The District of Columbia is home to more than 600,000 residents and nearly 1 million daily commuters and visitors.  Washington, DC also hosts 18 million visitors annually, ranging from world leaders and diplomats to schoolchildren learning about our government system and its roots. The District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department (Fire & EMS) has a workforce of over 2200 personnel and is an all-hazards agency providing emergency medical care and transportation (EMS), fire prevention, fire suppression, hazardous material response, and technical rescue services to residents and visitors in the District of Columbia. Fire & EMS resources are deployed from 33 neighborhood fire stations and include 39 EMS transport units, 33 engine companies, 16 ladder trucks, three heavy-rescue squads, one hazardous materials unit, and one fireboat company. 14 of the transport units and 20 of the engine companies are staffed by paramedics that provide advanced life support (ALS) care. Fire & EMS responds to over 150,000 incidents a year, an average of 435 a day. 

The Medical Director will provide medical direction and oversight for the delivery of medical care, emergency medical training, and medical quality assurance programs for the Department. The Medical Director holds the rank of Assistant Fire Chief and is part of the executive management team. As a member of the executive management team, the Medical Director will participate in all phases of executive management including strategic planning, budget development and execution, contracting and procurement, accreditation, labor/management relations, and intergovernmental relations.

The successful candidate shall hold an Allopathic or Osteopathic Medical Degree (M.D., D.O.) and shall be an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board-certified physician in a medical specialty that represents the broad patient base that the Department serves, such as emergency medicine, general surgery, family medicine, or internal medicine, most preferably by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM).  The ideal candidate will also possess at least four (4) years of substantial experience in emergency medical services, such as experience as a medical director or assistant medical director of emergency medical services, or successful completion of a recognized fellowship in emergency medical services.

EMS MEDICAL DIRECTOR

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine is currently seeking an EMS Medical Director to oversee the 12-town, 20-agency EMS system serving the greater New Haven area through the New Haven Sponsor Hospital Program (NHSHP).  Approximately 200 paramedics and 500 EMT-Basics receive medical oversight through NHSHP, which is a joint operation of Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Hospital of St. Raphael.

The EMS Medical Director will be appointed to the Department of Emergency Medicine academic faculty, and will work clinically in the Yale-New Haven Hospital ED (an urban, Level I trauma center with approximately 77,000 visits per year) and the Yale-New Haven Shoreline Medical Center ED (a suburban, freestanding ED with approximately 25,000 visits per year). The EMS Medical Director will join a well-established EMS leadership team with a commitment to continuous quality improvement, providing efficient care, and improving patient and provider satisfaction. The EMS Medical Director will serve on the New Haven SHARP Team (the only licensed physician response team in CT), and will have expectations of academic productivity in the Section of EMS, as well as teaching obligations in the Section’s EMS fellowship program, which will seek accreditation through ACGME as this process becomes available, and at NHSHP, which runs the largest paramedic training program in the state.

Candidates must be emergency medicine trained and board certified; and EMS fellowship training is preferred.  A field provider background is preferred due to the intense operational nature of the position. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in clinical, interpersonal, and administrative skills.

Job Summary: Montana Board of Medical Examiners is seeking applicants for a part time State EMS Medical Director (¾ time) to provide assistance to the Board of Medical Examiners in meeting the Board’s obligation to provide medical oversight to Basic Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who don’t have a medical director. Position assists in statewide coordination on emergency care and out-of-hospital services; evaluates EMT protocols to ensure inclusion of best medical practice; serves as a medical advisor to Board and Executive Director in the development and implementation of long-term goals and objectives for the Board in this area. As Medical Director: Provides medical direction of emergency and out-of-hospital care activities and program to ensure the proper development, maintenance and implementation of state of the art emergency care and out-of-hospital protocols, and the level and quality of program services provided by the board complies with standards of the medical profession and local, state, and federal regulations. Provides medical consultation to the Board, and technical assistance to the local medical directors. As Board Consultant: Provides consultation services to the Board on emergency care and out-of-hospital issues, policy development; program service delivery; and services provided to local medical directors, EMTs, and local communities.

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree and a successful completion of an appropriate residency program. If U.S Graduate, then a successful completion of a post-graduate residency; or if Foreign Graduate, then 3 years post-graduate residency in approved program or Board-certified by a specialty board approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Must be licensed to practice medicine (MD or D.O.) in the state of Montana or ability to obtain a Montana license. Must have five years experience practicing emergency medicine and providing off-line medical directions of basic and advanced EMTs in an EMS organization. Prefer incumbent to be certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine. 

Special Information: This position works part-time, 30 hours per week.  The incumbent will travel statewide to conduct medical director orientation and educational programs and will work outside of regular business hours.  Incumbent may telework.

Assistant EMS Medical Director

Emergency Medicine Physicians (EMP) is seeking an osteopathic Assistant EMS Medical Director for Doctors Hospital in Columbus, OH. This position will be instrumental in the growth of the EMS services at Doctors and the with the development of an EMS Fellowship program for physicians.

Doctors is a respected, 256-bed osteopathic teaching hospital that represents all major specialties. Academic affiliation is with the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
