Complete, Customizable Medical Directors Insurance

NAEMSP is pleased to announce NCG Insurance Services, LLC (NCG) as the endorsed insurance brokerage offering DirectorShield™, a new professional liability insurance offering for EMS Medical Directors. Medical directors will have a choice of coverage types and coverage limits, including errors and omissions, professional liability, employment practice liability, and defense costs for regulatory proceedings. All four types of insurance coverage commonly required of medical directors will be offered through one insurance package. In addition to offering directors a complete package option, DirectorShield™ will offer customizable limits. Medical directors will be able to purchase only the limits that they need.

Developed by NCG, an insurance brokerage that specializes in health care-related solutions, and Prime Insurance Company, medical directors will be able to choose their coverages on a single policy and specify the limits for each, putting an end to the “one size fits all” approach that is currently the industry standard.

According to Dianne Vass, NCG President and CEO, “We realized that a void existed in EMS medical directors’ coverage. Nobody was offering a complete package in one place with the flexibility to customize limits. We hope that solving this problem will make this part of medical directors’ jobs easier and will help them to concentrate on what’s really important – saving lives.”

In conjunction with  DirectorShield™, NCG will develop a risk prevention program for NAEMSPmembers. This program will be offered in collaboration with the Emergency Physicians Insurance Company RRG (EPIC), a national physician owned medical malpractice insurance company for emergency physicians. Dr. Graham Billingham, President of EPIC Insurance Managers and a former EMS medical director, is supportive of  DirectorShield™ and has endorsed the program as an option for EPIC policyholders who also serve as EMS medical directors.

Directors will have a choice of liability limits that better suit their contractual agreements.
