NAEMSP -Zoll EMS Resuscitation Research Fellowship Award

The NAEMSP Board of Directors is pleased to announce Jon Rittenberger, MD as the 2007 Fellow.  During this two-year award, Dr. Rittenberger will attempt to correlate neurologic outcome after cardiac arrest with blood markers of neuronal, cardiac and inflammatory injury.  This research will permit clinicians to directly titrate their bedside care with readily available tests.  Dr. Rittenberger plans to use the trend of these biomarkers over time to determine the trajectory of the patient and target specific organ systems for intervention.  Finally, these data may also provide mechanistic insight on the effect of hypothermia on multiple organ systems.
